6/05/2020—Each week, officials with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health host a press conference to update the community of the latest conditions of the coronavirus pandemic.
Institute Scholar, Heidi Gullett, MD, MPH, often speaks about the virus and the issues facing our nation. On June 5th, Dr. Gullett spoke about the other pandemic facing our nation: racism.
When asked about the conference, Dr. Gullett said, "The regular press briefings due to COVID-19 have also provided an opportunity to discuss our long-standing collaborative equity work to eliminate structural racism in greater Cleveland. This platform has provided a chance to explain the intersection of these two crises and their impact on our community. Immediately after George Floyd's death, I felt moved to speak from the heart about my own perspective transformation journey of confronting my own privilege."
