There is a unique opportunity at this point in time to improve our healthcare system through an integrative approach that values mind, body, and spirit and blends complementary and conventional medicine. President Obama’s new administration has recognized the importance not only of health care reform but of the central role of prevention if we are to contain costs and have a system that is sustainable and truly focused on health.
The Institute seeks to challenge conventional thinking on health and healthcare, reframing the conversation, nurturing creative solutions, and exploring cutting-edge ideas. Our emphasis is to bring together thought-leaders from multiple disciplines in order to inspire fresh perspectives and solutions. We support scholarship in areas that may not be funded by conventional sources, developing a network that will cross institutional and national boundaries.
From a firm foundation of science, our work aspires to show proof of concept for new models of promoting health. We place high value on projects that have the potential to be replicated in ways that will benefit large populations of people and believe in the necessity of informing and actively involving people in shaping a new vision for health.
